We are following up with Ian Stanford who joined us a while back to talk about the mental approach to time trials. Ian put his own advice to good use as you will see. Tim Mulrooney was a very popular guest when we talked of aerodynamic wheels and he is joining us again to talk about being a World Champion, HED product updates and some very interesting (yes it is very bike nerdy) talk about frame geometry. Why do bikes that are set up the same feel so different? Tim may have an idea....

In part two, Mark Cote goes through all of the wind tunnel testing to date, and the single most thing you can buy to make you more aerodynamic is much, much cheaper than you think.

Oct 5, 2014

Specialized aerodynamic guru Mark Cote is one of those individuals on the cutting edge of all things related to bicycle aerodynamics. Mark and fellow aero-geek, Chris Yu, have teamed up to develop a series of YouTube videos which confirms and debunks aerodynamic myths and generally provide some very useful information. Mark was kind enough to sit down for an hour and talk about the new Specialized windtunnel and specific research that will lessen the task of fighting the wind. In part one of the interview, Mark goes over his background and the general story behind the Specialized tunnel. Part two of this interview will air in two weeks and most of the “go faster” stuff will be in that segment. If you have something you would like tested just search for Mark Cote or Chris Yu on twitter and use the hashtag #aeroiseverything.

Sarah Connolly may just be the foremost authority on all things related to Women’s Professional Cycling. Her excellent website, prowomenscycling.com, is self-described as the “Unofficial Unsanctioned Women's UCI Cycling Blog” and is subtitled “A sweary blog about professional women's cycling.” Her knowledge of women’s cycling is only outdone by her enthusiasm for the sport. Sarah reviews the Women's Team Trial event at the 2014 UCI World Championships and she reviews the individual event. She also updates us on the general state of the sport.

Sep 16, 2014

Michael Hutchinson is quite possibly the world's foremost authority on cycling's hour record. His own attempt was chronicled in his excellent book "The Hour". Michael will be at the track in Grenchen, Switzerland to preview the first attempt at the new format record by Trek Factory Racing's Jens Voigt, and he was kind enough to give us this audio preview. Michael is a must follow on twitter @doctor_hutch, and this will be especially true for this long awaited return to prominance for the hour record.

Coach Rob Kelley is back (rokcoaching.com) and this time he shares his enthusiasm for the sport of Cyclocross. Cross can be a great compliment to any cyclists year, as it is equal part tough and fun. Okay, so it is more fun in the long run. Cross adds much needed weight bearing activity after a summer of sweating out that calcium on the TT bike, so it is worth considering as the TT season winds down and the Cross season heats up. For 10% off a Cyclocross training plan, go to Rob's website, ROKCoaching.com, and enter the coupon code ttpodcast.

Part one of two.
