Michael Hutchinson, most recently the author of Faster, the Obsession, Science and Luck behind the World’s Fastest Cyclist is back to talk about the time trials in the upcoming Giro d'Italia, Tour de France and also to bring us up to date on the latest surrounding Fabian Cancellara's interest in attempting cycling's hour record.
Michael Hutchinson may just be the foremost expert on cycling time trials and it’s hour record. He is an extremely accomplished cyclist, having won over 50 National UK titles at distances from 10 miles to 12 hours. It is hard to single out any of those accomplishments, but arguably the most impressive is his 13 straight 50 mile titles. He has also raced the Commonwealth Games time trial three times, with two 4th place finishes in 2006 and 2010. He has attempted Cycling’s Hour Record twice, and one of those attempts resulted in one of the three books he has authored, The Hour. He has also written Missing The Boat which talks about chasing a childhood sailing dream, and his new book Faster, promises to tell all of the Obsession, Science and Luck behind the World’s Fastest Cyclists. That book is what we are here to talk about in this podcast.
