Part two of our Goals discussion with Coach Tim Ramsden. Tim is an Association of British Cycling L3 Cycling coach and owner of blackcatcyclecoaching.com. This is Tim’s fourth appearance and his other shows on Cadence, Time Trialing for Newcomers and Sweet Spot Training were really well received.

Today we looking at the general topic of Setting Goals. Setting goals is of course something competitors are encouraged to do as it tends to focus training, but we want to delve into how to set realistic and practical goals so that the “journey” of training is rewarding and fulfilling. Welcome back Tim!

This Special Edition of the show is based on an article that appeared in the August 2015 issue of VeloNews magazine entitled “Cycling To Extremes”.  We are growing older daily, even those of you that are still quite young, and the choices we make regarding extreme exercise may impact not only how we enjoy the sport, but could influence our very quality and quantity of our life.

On this show, Lennard Zinn, Author of Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance (and many others), Founder of Zinn Cycles and regular columnist for VeloNews, shares his life altering experience after a life of competition. @lennardzinn

We are also joined by Chris Case. Chris wrote the article and he shares his thoughts as a Journalist and as an Endurance Athlete. @velonews

Matt Bottrill had his most prolific year ever in 2014 as he won the UK National 50, 25, 10 and pretty much everything he lined up for.  He won the prestigious Bidlake Prize for his outstanding season. When we interviewed Matt back in February, he eluded to an eventual goal of moving on from time trials and moving into the world of triathlon. Chris Case is the Managing Editor of VeloNews Magazine. He joined VeloNews as managing editor in 2012. Chris has a regular series called “A Case for Suffering”, which includes tales of the La Ruta Mountain Bike race (A three day mountain bike event across Costa Rica) and Dirty Kanza 200 (a 200-mile gravel race). In his own words, Chris “needed a new challenge”, which led him and his colleague and friend Nick Legan to try Cycling’s Hour Record.

Nick Legan jumped straight into wrenching for a few years at the Pro Peloton bike shop in Boulder, CO. He then began a seven-year stint in the professional ranks, most recently working for RadioShack at the Tour de France and the Amgen Tour of California. He also worked for Garmin-Slipstream, CSC, Toyota-United, Health Net and Ofoto. Nick served as the VeloNews tech editor from 2010-2012.
